Pigeons

This picture was taken at the Piazzetta, near St Mark Square at Venice, Italy, on july 18th, 2006. Venice probably has a pigeon overpopulation crisis, partly caused by the sheer numbers of tourists who leave bits of food around. It's every pigeon for itself, as they guard their resting places on the sculptures of Venice.
